I awoke today from a phone call from my brother Mark. My sister Diane had been rushed to the hospital. Diane has blood clots in her brain. They do not think that she will need surgery, but a cause has not been determined. I got home just a little while ago from the hospital. She went to the ER with a major headache, which she had thought was a severe migraine. They have been performing tests, which will continue tomorrow. They know they need to thin her blood. If she’s lucky it will be home on medication. If not, she will stay in the ICU unit. She’s my kid sister and one of the most important people in both my life and that of my children. If you have a moment please have a good thought for Diane.
She is without a doubt, as fine a person as there is on this planet. She is always there for her family and friends. Any member of her family or any of her vast array of friends, knows that Diane will can always be counted on. She is on morphine, which dulls the pain, but it is still there. Here’s an example of her humor. The doctor came in while I was there and asked a series of background questions. When she was asked, “Alcohol?” Diane responded, “Sure. I could use a drink. You buying?” We will return soon.
